Round 3 of the BMX Summer National Series took place in the beautiful village of Cheddar in Somerset on Sunday. Twenty riders from Braintree BMX Club travelled down to take part in the competition.

The cruiser riders were up first at this meeting and Leon Dixon and Oliver Cutmore took part in the 13 – 15 grand prix cruiser class and with all races counting Leon finished fifth with Oliver on his tail in sixth.

In the 16 – 29 cruiser class Jason Clarke stepped up his game and went easily into the A final where he finished seventh. Lee East and Jamie Clarke both found themselves in the B final with Lee taking the win and Jamie in fourth.

The ever exciting expert classes kicked off with the ‘pocket rockets’ in the shape of the 6 and under class and Tom Stokes from Braintree rode extremely well in his motos going into the B final which he won with style.

The expert nines went to semi-finals and both George Moret and Joshua Legrove went into the semi’s with ease. They both missed out on the A final but went into B which was won by George with Joshua further down the pack in eighth.

The male 10’s saw Lee Golder make the semi-final with ease crossing the line in third and making the A final where he finished eighth. The huge class of 13/14 year olds went, as usual, to quarter finals and Riess Harper, newcomer Dexter Addington and Ryan East had their work cut out to get through these levels of the competition. Riess sailed into the quarter finals with excellent moto results where he crossed the line in second which he then repeated in the semi final. So into the A final where an unfortunate fall left him finishing seventh. Ryan went through to the quarter finals but finished eighth. Dexter unfortunately missed out on the quarter final round.

The equally large and competitive 15/16 class saw all the riders battling for places in the quarter and semi finals. Matt Kirk sailed through his motos into and through the quarter and semi finals into the main final where he finished fifth. Sam Aves went through to the B final after his semi final and finished seventh. Richard Whiting, Will Elsey and Oliver Cutmore.were further down the pack with Richard and Will going into the quarter finals but not progressing further, with Oliver Cutmore just missing out on the quarter finals.

The Masters of the sport (30+) also went to quarter and semi finals and Jools Allen and Gavin Stokes both achieved a place in the quarters. Jools sailed through into the semi but an unfortunate fall saw him into the B final where he finished third, Gavin unfortunately missed out on the semi final.

Doing it for the girls in the junior female class was Nicola Reed who waltzed into the A final and finished fourth even after a fall in one of her motos. Finally in the Junior Men was Bradley Watts who took excellent moto results into the semi-final where a third saw him safely into the A final where he also finished a very tight third.

Enjoy. Humps

That'll be Alan Humphrey then!!
