Hi all,

Not sure if thsi fits into the OS category, but as it very much a track from the Old Schoold, here it is anyway!

You may or may not have heard, but a group of crazy 30 something ex members have decided to try and get the Woodham site and club up and running again, amidst the Council's plans to flatten the site for a car park for proposed football pitches that are to be built behind the present site. It appears that the Council is listening however, and after attending several meetings and after putting the pro's for the track forward, we have applied to CBC for a planning license to use the site for recreation once again.

Unfortunately with any Council related affair, this may be a long and drawn out process, and I met with them last week to discuss the progress we are making. Various surveys have been requested, and supplied, so it's now just a matter of waiting!

To show the Council how serious we were on reusing the track, we began to congregate at the track on the Ferrers Road each Saturday, (on the right hand side, after the Ford garage) and began to tidy the masses of overgrowth that has accumulated over 15 years! 6 odd weeks on and the results have been fantastic, lots of the old boys from back in the day (myself, Paul Coleman, Paul Palmer, Paul Catling, Lee Firmin, Simon Croucher, Gareth offers) have teamed up with local lads (and ladies!)and got stuck in. There is however an awful lot of crap to clear still, so if you are kicking around and fancy putting your boots and your gardening gloves on, please pop along and lend a hand. We are there from 8.30 till about 5 - there are fires burning some of the overgrowth all day for a bit of warmth!, and hot food and drinks are provided on site by one of the volunteers

Thanks

Weeksy
