Not another 'play track' please!!!!. Actually the proposals we've seen are for a track and skatepark in Shrub End (nr the football ground). I gave the woman who is doing the fund raising etc a call quite some time ago but no reply, i'll give it another go and see if she can afford MR Jenks or Mr Forte!.

Steve Jenks, Mr Forte (Kye, Leo, and Tobys dad), or whoever built Bournemouth or Burnham.

Ryan you need to let me know who to speak to then, we only live 2 mins from there!. You are right, the current 'BMX play area' is a joke, dangerous (it,s actually a figure of eight!) and of course no one uses it.

Back in the very late 70's or early 80's I was one of the kids who met the men from the council who were proposing to build a 'BMX Track' on New Farm Rd in Colchester (we called it Clairmont)

Can you imagine how gutted we were when the council came and dumped around 20 piles of dirt in an oval. WTF?

It was total shite, they didn't even attempt to flatten or compact anything and it would have only been wide enough for 1 bike anyway.

Forward wind 25 years and I again met the men from the council at the 'BOABMX' initiative consultative meeting at Alderman Blaxill school about a venue off Layer Road.

They were talking Dreamland Skatepark and seemed pretty set on the idea as I lobbied pretty hard for them to consider a pukker Jenks type track. They didn't seem to keen but said they would get back to me Rolling Eyes

This new thing over Clairmont is news to me but the origional track I told of at the start was ripped out years ago and replaced with an equally shite oval thing.

I wonder what new improved shite oval they are thinking of this time or will it be 3rd time lucky. I hope so as I live just round the corner.

Ryan gave me name of guy from council, same chap i wrote/spoke to 3 years ago. Main difference this time he says is they have money but he's deffo only thinking 'play track'. As long as it's a Jenks play track no worries but won't hold me breath. Fireblade you may want to PM Ryan your details, more involved the merrier?.

That sounds very positive. Lets hope they do it well.

Heres a link to Hersden Play Track. They hold races there during the summer and now alot of the riders are competing at South Regionals.
