Its getting closer now!!
Weve had a number of meetings and the start date and final agreements will all be in place soon.
If you have any questions or comments regarding the track build, design, timing or anything related to the track please post them here in public so I only get asked once and everybody who reads the thread will have the same information.

I have some:
Just as a reminder what are the club trying to acheive here?
What are the priorities?
Are all the Berms going to be tarmac?
Are the changes going to be done in one go (assume economy of scale with plant etc) or in parts?
If in parts what is the thinking here?
Do the works extend to other areas of the site as well, if so what?
Is there a view on how long the works will take to complete?
Will the track be completely out of action during this time?
I gather there has been some delay/issue with original contractors, what have the problems been to date and what is happening now?
Will there be anything left I can jump
I just want it noted that I really appreciate all the work the team are putting in on this. I do however feel its important to keep the club updated on such major changes (and lets face it the spending of a LOT of club money) so please keep the updates coming as things change or evolve.
Thanks again
Steve Gilbert

I believe we are going to improve the track to the standard British Cycling expect so that we stand in good stead to apply for a National. Also, whilst improving the track to that level, we are hoping to boost the skill level of our riders by giving them something challenging to train on.
What are the priorities?
Im unsure as to what you mean by this?
Are all the Berms going to be tarmac?
Not in the 1st phase. We will need an extra £15K approx. The base work will be done in the first phase though.
Are the changes going to be done in one go (assume economy of scale with plant etc) or in parts?
The majority of the work will be done in a 4 week period.
If in parts what is the thinking here?
See above
Do the works extend to other areas of the site as well, if so what?
We hope to carry out some improvements to the car park in regard to drainage and levels.
Is there a view on how long the works will take to complete?
See above
Will the track be completely out of action during this time?
It may be out of action for a majority of the 4 week period as it will be classed as a building site and H&S precautins will be implemented ie. fencing etc. If this is the case, some contingency plans for training and coaching will be implemented.
I gather there has been some delay/issue with original contractors, what have the problems been to date and what is happening now?
Primarily cost. The track builders we were in consultation with were the finest in the country. Unfortunately we couldnt afford it. We are now in negotiation with a reputeable groundworks company and I will oversee the technical/artistic side of the shaping and layout.
Will there be anything left I can jump
I hope your skill levels will rise accordingly with the use of the new facility and that you will be airborn in the near future. If you can see it, you can achieve it. Coaching will be available at very reasonable rates, and we will need a crash test dummy during the build

I appreciate your questions and hope I have answered them fully. If there are any more questions then please ask, THAT MEANS ALL OF YOU!!

The primary issue is the width with regard to standards. There is no specific jumps or layout issues. However, our current track is not of the quality that is expected for such high-level racing, and to widen the track will involve the removal and restructuring of jumps as well as the need for a good, well draining base layer. The drainage issue, though a little dull is one of the most important aspects of a good quality track.

Simple Question !! CAN I BE THE CRASH DUMMY !! :D
On a serious note. Since i havent been riding the club has gone to strength to strength. Just would like to say a BIG well done for all the hard work.
When we first built the track we never would have thought we could ever reach a National Standard Track. Building a track correctly is not easy so i wish you all the best of luck.
Many Thanks
If your not living on the edge your taking up to much room !!

This is the track plan I have submitted to EJ Taylors (groundworls) for pricing. We should have some feedback from them early next week.

Base Layer- Existing soil compacted with a 2.4 ton Ramax and hand shaped. Coated with 75mm wet limestone Type 1.
Drainage- modified existing drains. New pipe layed between 2nd and 3rd straights, and new vein to be layed under track from last straight to ditch bordering football pitch. 80mm coilable pipe with 75mm stone drain. Not sure of depth of pipe. ALANNNNNNNNNN?

But it will still be kid friendly.
